Ingredients:

  • 2 cups self-rising flour (I used White Lily, but any brand works)
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • Shortening for greasing your biscuit pan/dish
  • Wax paper (optional)
  • Extra flour for dusting your surface

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Generously grease your baking pan with shortening, covering the bottom and sides. Set aside.
  3. Sift 2 cups of flour into a mixing bowl (be sure not to pack the flour when measuring).
  4. Pour in the heavy whipping cream.
  5. Mix the flour and cream until the flour is just moistened (you can use a spoon or your hands).
  6. Place wax paper on a table or counter.
  7. Lightly flour the wax paper to prevent sticking.
  8. Knead and fold the dough gently until it's ready for cutting (the dough will be sticky, but that's okay—just be careful not to overwork it).
  9. Roll or pat the dough to your desired thickness.
  10. Use a cup or biscuit cutter to cut out your biscuits.
  11. Arrange the biscuits on the baking pan so they are touching each other (this helps them rise instead of spreading out and becoming flat).
  12. Bake at 450°F until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are fully cooked, about 15-20 minutes (oven times may vary).
  13. Serve immediately, or keep warm until ready to enjoy.
