Here’s my favorite churros recipe that you’ll love. Say goodbye to those old, reheated, frozen churros; homemade churros are simply unbeatable. When made from scratch and enjoyed fresh from the fryer, you’re in for a delightful treat. This classic recipe uses simple pantry ingredients and is easy to make, offering the perfect balance of flavor and texture. You’ll end up with beautifully crispy and golden churros every time!
CHURROS
Makes 12 churros
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water (240ml)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (28g)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (13g)
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
- 1 large egg (50g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
Cinnamon Sugar:
- 1/2 cup sugar (100g)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Chocolate Dipping Sauce:
- 3 oz bittersweet chocolate (85g)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (120g)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
- Boil 1 cup of water in a saucepan.
- Add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the boiling water and stir until melted.
- Mix in 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1/8 teaspoon of salt until fully dissolved.
- Gradually add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, stirring until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then mix in 1 beaten egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.
Fry the Churros:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer.
- Pipe the dough into churro shapes and fry until golden and crispy.
- Roll the warm churros in a mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
Prepare the Chocolate Dipping Sauce:
- Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream until hot but not boiling.
- Pour the cream over 3 oz of chopped bittersweet chocolate and stir until smooth.
